We ended our 2019  financial year on a fantastic high after raising £12,200 for our chosen Stenprop Charity of the Year, Bokamoso Education Trust, we are pleased to report that FY2020 (ending 31 March 2020) has already been a huge success on the charity front.

June of this year saw seven employees from Stenprop began the lung-busting Source-2-Sea challenge, involving 31 hours of non-stop running. Setting off from the source of the River Thames near Cirencester, the seven experienced the typically inconsistent English weather - wind, rain, sunshine and mist, but it was the requirement to outrun some slightly agitated cattle that kept them on their toes. Injuries were only minor and, thankfully, no one ended up in the river as they navigated their way along the Thames path day and night. Our aim for FY2020 is to raise a minimum of £10,000 which would support an incredible 900 hours of care by a Demelza Care Assistant who helps care and support children with serious conditions and their families. We are incredibly proud of the seven as they have raised so far over £19,000 for our chosen Charity of the Year, Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

As well as our employees teaming up together to help raise money for charity, our Head of Asset Management Simon Ross is also raising money for Brain Tumour Research. So far this year Simon has run the Victoria Park Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Source to Sea (c. 34 miles) and more recently has completed Man vs. Mountain – a 22 mile run up and down Mt. Snowdon. Simon is also hoping to add an official marathon onto his already fantastic list so watch this space!

We have been working closely with our Corporate Partnerships Manager at Demelza, Petra Bones, who continuously provides us with information with upcoming events taking place with the charity as well as unique and simple ways to raise money. Alongside the Stenprop seven completing the Source-2-Sea challenge, we have also made small donations to Demelza through book sales and collection pots.

We hope to continue to raise even more money over the FY2020 and hopefully make a difference to the lives of the families Demelza supports.
